One of the Academy's strengths has been its PROFESSIONAL CONSULTANCY SERVICES for the Industry in the broad areas of Design, Marketing, Merchandising, Production, Quality Assurance, Production Systems and CAD/CAM.
 

Some of the prestigious projects the Academy is handling / has handled successfully are for organizations such as UNDP, Carpet Export Promotion Council of India, Bangladesh Garment Exporters Association, the Garment Exporters Association, the Weavers' Guild, Salem, etc.

 

Other consultancy services provided by the Academy include :

 

  • Curriculum development and training for senior faculty for an Institute in Vietnam
  • Fashion Forecast Studios for the Export Industry for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections
  • Pattern making and computer aided Textile Design consultancy for various apparel organizations
  • Development of Quality Assurance Systems for various Export Houses in Delhi
  • Development of an Enterprise Resource Planning Software called "Pearl Esquire" for providing solution to the garment industry integrating operations from product development to shipping.

 

PAF has very close links with the industry, and given below are some examples of how we maintain this:

 

a) The Advisory and Academic Boards consist of many leading industrialists of India.
b) Visiting faculty are practicing managers in the industry and they share the rich and varied experience with students through classroom lectures or visits to their organizations.
c) Students are required to undertake industry projects to gain real life industry exposure.
d) Industry internship is a compulsory part of the curriculum in various programmes.
e) Leading industry houses grant scholarships to deserving students.
f ) PAF conducts short term training programmes for the in-house personnel of the industry in areas such as fabric study, merchandising, garment washing and finishing, production, fashion forecast, product development etc.
g) The Academy publishes a monthly magazine called ‘Consultant’ featuring articles and news items on the latest developments in fashion, textiles and retail industry. Copies of the magazine are mailed to all the leading industry houses.
h) The Academy conducts national and international conferences independently and in association with leading organizations such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC), the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), GarmenTech Expo Pvt. Ltd., etc.
i) The Academy also participates regularly in trade fairs and exhibitions such as the Indian International Garment Fair (conducted by the AEPC – Apparel Exporters’ Promotion Council); the Tex-Styles India Fair/ Fabric Folio (ITPO – India Trade Promotion Organization); the GarmenTech Fair, etc.
