Pearl Academy of Fashion Presents CONTEMPO ‘07
~ 2-day exhibition by foundation students commences on January 18, 2007 ~
Chennai, January 18, 2007 : Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF), India’s premier institute for fashion and retail education presented Contempo ‘07 – platform for display of students’ works. Inaugurated by a renowned fashion designer and Chief Guest Ms. Rehane Yavar, the two day exhibition commenced on January 18, 2007.
Contempo ’07 highlighted the creative process and out-of-the-box thinking of PAF students and exhibited translation of these innovative thoughts into products that enhance everybody’s lifestyle. Students of Fashion Design, Textile Design (Home Fashion), Fashion Merchandising & Production and Fashion Design (Indian Wear) courses showcased their first semester works which included storyboards depicting Spring Summer 07 trends, garments and home fashion.
The students of Textile Design (Home Fashion) department worked on embellishment techniques on various products like kitchen items, cushions, towels, pillows, curtains, etc. They developed innovative weaving samples by using different materials and techniques and also showcased different mediums in drawing.
Ecstatic with works of the students, fashion designer Rehane Yavar said, “The displayed creations are a repertoire of individual expressions and each one is unique in its own way. It is good to know that today’s generation is well versed with the fashion trends and are able to blend it in their creations.”

Today’s creations surely convey that our students are on the right track and discovering new ways of expression to depict their individual creative disposition,” said Mr S. The design programmes at Pearl Academy of Fashion cover foundation areas that essentially strive to inculcate in the students the ability to visualize and represent ideas and concepts, understanding and application of design fundamentals, understanding of material and material manipulation, understanding of cultural manifestation and contexts, and their relevance to design, effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Currently, PAF Chennai offers full-time PG & UG programmes in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Garment Manufacturing, Textile Design (Home Fashion) and Fashion Retail.
